life-living and experiencing it has a lot to do with habits. These are the reflex actions, almost compulsive ,so ingrained in our system that we unthinkingly do them day in and day out. So its by habit that we sleep with our pillow and mobile phone tucked somewhere under it. It is also simply our habit to check our phone the moment we get up and no surprise it is only the pull of our habit that we check facebook everyday ,refresh the page every 15 mins and stare at all the million things that our friends are doing-or that is doing them(pun intended!!!).
Now since its our habit its is excusable and understandable we do it with no modicum of sense and sensibility(if only Jane Austen wrote status updates!!).But as today turns out to be the day i decide to nicely comb my hair and wear my newly bought thinking-cap over it let me throw some beacon of light on it and its various dangers.
1. so what really happens is that we actually start believing that the world is divided between those who like to "like" and those who don't,that the maximum course of action we have, to commend or condemn something or somebody is to "comment" and the extent of our resolve to start afresh begins and ends with changing our "profile pic" and sharing our "whats on my mind". Our overall confidence and unwavering smile at the end of it all can only be directly proportional to the number of "notifications" we get. so much for Mark Zuckerberg and his getting back at his ex!!
2. well its always a good thought that we live in a happy world but then it can stab us back real hard to know we are living in a world where everyone else is happy but us.Now this is almost an unreal version of the truth but then we almost always believe it.But trust me do we have a choice -especially after a crappy weekend that included a fight with your boyfriend, a looming rejection for a job interview and a tussle with the new collection of clothes at "Mango's try room where despite your bravest attempts to fit into that nice frilly size M you had to contend with an L add to that the sales girls expression saying"i told you so fat ass "!!! and then you refresh the facebook page to see your boyfriend tagged on some chick's album, your friend updating her work profile and the ugly duckling of your school posting pictures of a well groomed self with a hot arm candy!!!!
3.I wonder who called our generation "selfish".we are anything but that. After all we are the ones spending every living moment of our life thinking, wondering and fretting about others. What do they think of me?what is everyone else up to?where is she going?is she really that happy? whats up with him...who is he dating? Its always about the other. So i can safely say that you may denote our generation by whatever alphabet you like(x,y,z or f) we are a completely "Selfless" lot. We never really think of ourselves or our future...even when at the crossroads of life, faced with a philosophical crises or an existentialist dilemma instead of introspecting we choose to post in on our fb wall and wait for reactions and "likes" from all those who couldn't care less about meeting us (read fb friends:P)
4. We were taught a lot of things in school.Brush your teeth twice a day, share your food with everyone.do not eavesdrop.it is rude to poke.etc etc.But blame habit that while we might still be getting an A+for maintaining oral health poking, snooping and eavesdropping has become part of the intenary for our forever on the move mind.So from one person's tagged picture,to another persons video link, with a turn around to someone Else's friend list.we have been there and done it all.If only we were allowed to "poke" each other in person.!!ouch
Oh enough of ranting about it - no denying the fact that the closest we come to achieving ultimate peace is having a sinful chocolate truffle and counting the number of "likes" which my friends i would want you to help me with. While the cake i can arrange and devour all by myself the"like"is what i am looking forward to from you.I know I know, after all that i said this request would seem as weired as Lady Gaga writing a book on the virtues of sober dressing. But since "like"is the currency in use i want to be rich too
and with that i rest my case:)
Accept my penny contribution (liked)
